During WWII, women answered the call to serve: living in dorms, eating in mess halls, and braving harsh desert winds. Employed on a top-secret government project, they worked as operators, nurses, waitresses, lab technicians, and secretaries.

The Mid-Columbia Libraries Board of Trustees meets the third Tuesday of every month, starting at 5:30 pm. Special meetings and workshop sessions are also held as needed.
