Have You Seen...? Movies And Films You May Not Have Seen, Yet

A list by Rachael, Page

In addition to reading like the words are oxygen, I love a good motion picture. Blockbusters, quiet films, and  that entertain and enlighten. Fortunately, the library has me (and you) covered. From classic titles to lesser knows, these are worth the watch.

Books

Set in the 1930s, while the Great Depression is in full swing, a socialite tries to bring a "forgotten man" from the city dump back to a party as part of a scavenger hunt. When he rebuffs her, but accepts her sister's more respectful version of the same request, he finds himself both helping her win, and with a new job. A subtly funny and sharp look at how the other half lives and how wealth can't buy humanity.

Harvey is a happy man, an alcoholic with what most people identify as a hallucination of a large rabbit. His sister wants to get him commited, but not everyone thinks he's mentally ill. A film about perception, reality, and whether it's better to be clever or kind.

If you enjoy the film, you might also enjoy John Green's essay on it in his book, The Anthropocene Reviewed.
