November is National Native American Heritage Month. We would like to acknowledge that Mid-Columbia Libraries’ 12 branches are located on the ancestral homelands of Indigenous peoples. As early as 10,000 years ago, inhabitants of the Wanapum People, Yakama Nation, Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Reservation, and the Nez Perce lived and continue to live in our region. This land was and is of great importance to these First Nations. This month and all year round, join us in exploring the experiences, heritage, traditions, and cultures of Indigenous peoples both past and present.
