Whether you're preparing for future travel, interested in anime or Japanese culture, or just want to try something new, this three-week summer program is a perfect place to start learning Japanese. Designed for ages 16 and up, this course introduces you to the fundamentals of the language in a relaxed, engaging environment.
You'll learn how to read and write hiragana, use common greetings and everyday phrases, and build useful vocabulary around topics like numbers, colors, food, weather, and daily routines. Classes are taught by a CBC Language Instructor Mitchell Furniss and include fun cultural activities, hands-on projects, and games that make learning memorable-even if you've never studied Japanese before.
By the end of the session, you'll be able to recognize all 46 basic hiragana characters, participate in simple conversations, and gain a meaningful introduction to the language and culture of Japan.
Interested participants are asked to sign up at the Kennewick branch either in person or via a phone call.
