Build Reading Skills: Make Connections

As young children grow and develop, they learn to make connections in order to understand their worlds. Reading with young children allows them make connections between life experiences and create important pathways they will use later in life to learn important skills and information.

Try connecting what you are reading in books to their lives. For example, “Look, Grandma has a spotted dog, too.” Use these books to get started!
