Real Stories I Loved... and Read to the Bittersweet End

A list by Celina, HR Director

There's nothing like reading an incredible TRUE story. These are a few favorites of mine that I couldn't put down.

Books

An absolutely amazing story that was made into a movie, "Lion."

As a spouse of first responder and air force veteran that served in 2001, honoring 9/11 every year is important to me.   The Red Bandanna is an incredible true story of heroism and gives me hope in all the good in this world – even when tragedies occur.  The story of Welles Crowther broke my heart a thousand times, but left me so inspired knowing one person can make a difference.

This story had me hooked from the very beginning! Can you believe there was a time that ingesting radium was considered exclusive? If you're like me, this book will have you thinking about all the potentially harmful things we expose ourselves to every day without thinking...

There's a reason why this book has been a New York Times Bestseller for about 200 weeks! A must read!

The author came to MCL in 2009, and I had the wonderful opportunity to meet him. This book gives a very raw look into the people risking their lives to come to the U.S. through the Devil's Highway.

Did you read or watch "Into the Wild"? This is a follow up memoir written by Chris McCandless' sister.
