When the wealthy patriarch of a large family dies, his children and grandchildren scramble to find out who gets what. His death, ruled suspicious, leads to uncomfortable encounters with his family members, each of whom have their own reasons for wanting him dead. 

The last of Christie's novels, this ramps up the tension while never fully showing its hand until the very end. 

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde: To lose one set of parents may be a tragedy. To lose two smacks of carelessness. The main character in this charming middle-grade novel isn’t careless, but when her adoptive parents die and her biological parents are also gone, she seeks a home with the family of a kid from school.
