In this temporary role, the Programs Specialist will help in coordinating Financial Aid Nights with our community partner. This position will support students and their families in learning how to navigate the updated financial aid process with financial aid experts. Duties include communicating with branch staff, setting up/taking down at various library events, coordinating food/beverages, filling supplies and equipment requests, and providing support to partners, as needed. The ideal candidate has a passion for helping others in achieving their educational goals and has familiarity with the FAFSA and WASFA application process.
This is a part-time, temporary role starting December 1, 2024 through April 30, 2024. This role would require to travel to multiple library branches during the course of the assignment. Locations include: Kennewick, Pasco, West Richland, Keewaydin, West Pasco, Benton City, Prosser, and Connell. Financial Aid Nights anticipated schedule include:
- December 10, 17, 2024
- January 7, 14, 21, 28, 2025
- February 4, 11, 18, 25, 2025
- March 4, 11, 18, 25, 2025
- April 1, 8, 15, 22, 2025
- Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college
- Two years clerical experience; library experience preferred
- Ability to work evenings during the week and travel to other branches
- Must be able to obtain a valid Washington State driver's license
- Ability to promote a culture of belonging by supporting MCL's commitment to a Healthy Workplace
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Experience coordinating events and/or programs
- Experience working with families
