Our Kennewick branch is seeking to fill a Customer Service Specialist position with a dynamic individual who has the desire to engage with library visitors of all ages in the discovery of great books and library materials. In this role, the Customer Service Specialist will assist at the main desk while also supporting customers using computers and personal devices in the library. This position will be responsible for providing interactive and engaging preschool Storytime and facilitate programming activities that engage elementary aged children in building early childhood literacy skills. This book enthusiast will support in-branch activities, participate in community outreach events, and present information about services/programs to the public as needed. Successful candidates will have a love of reading and learning, working with children, and a desire to serve the public through this role.
- Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college, plus two years of customer service experience, including public contact
- Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience
- Must also be able to obtain a valid Washington State driver’s license
- Ability to promote a culture of belonging by supporting MCL's commitment to a Healthy Workplace
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with children
- Experience presenting Storytime
- Outreach experience, including working with organizations serving children and their families
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Knowledge of technological devices (such as eReaders) and their application
